When there is a parent/child relationship between an asset and a vehicle, the Reallocation Tool can be used to link the two together.
1. Navigate to the Reallocation Tool
2. Navigate to the Allocate Assets tab
3. Enter the 'Registration Number' of the vehicle you wish to allocate an asset to
If you want to allocate an asset to another asset, then enter the relevant 'Asset ID' in the 'Registration Number' field. If the asset you're allocating to has a parent vehicle, then the asset you're allocating will inherit the same parent vehicle.
FleetWave will populate the 'Base Type', 'Make' and 'Model' based on the vehicle selected and list all the currently allocated assets (if any) in the embed table.
4. Enter a date for the allocation to start from
5. In the embed table of assets available for allocation, search for the asset/s you want to allocate and click the checkbox on the row of each one
6. Click the Allocate button
FleetWave will perform the allocation, updating the 'Parent Vehicle ID' on the asset record and pulling through the hierarchy details (cost center etc.) to the asset from the parent record. The updates will be reflected on screen by moving the assets from the available assets embed table to the currently allocated assets embed table.
A record will be added to the Allocations table containing the details of the allocation to ensure an audit trail of where the asset has been is maintained.
To reverse this process and unallocate an asset, i.e. record that it is no longer linked to a vehicle, simply click the checkbox on the row of the relevant asset/s in the currently allocated assets embed table and click the Unallocate button.
Tip: There's a button on the Assets browse table which will open an asset hierarchy diagram to give you a visual representation, particularly useful in scenarios where you have an asset allocated to another asset, which is then in turn allocated to a vehicle!
