Introduction
The Content Copier can be used to export/import configurations from a number of different sections of the system with a greater ease of use than the standard import functionality.
It can be used to export data associated with standard FleetWave tables like the Screen Design settings, Screen Rules, Data Rules, Table Schema settings, Import Definitions, INI Codes, Translations, etc. in their current state and be reimported into different systems, or the same system at a later point, without needing to worry about data loaders or import templates.
This article will cover the "Table Export" and "Import from Table Export" functionalities.
Finding the Content Copier tool
To use the Content Copier to export data associated with a specific table, you would start by first navigating to the table that you want to export data from, clicking the "three dots" icon in the upper right-hand corner, clicking "Show Details", and then clicking the "Content Copier" button from the resulting page:
Using the Content Copier tool to Export
From there, the Content Copier window should open to the "Table Export" tab, where you can choose the tables whose data will be exported:
If you opened the Content Copier from a specific table, it should already be included in the "Tables to Export" list. To add more, you'll have to select the table in the "Available Tables" list and click the '>>' button.
From there, you should select what type of data you'd like to export from the table. It's worth noting that the Content Copier will not export the standard database values that populate the table like the regular Export function does but will export related data like the Screen Rules or Table Schema settings that are associated with the selected tables.
You can select one more many options here, and they will all be exported to the same file. Select the components to be included, choose the encoding that the file should use (typically Support just uses the default UTF-8 encoding system), and click the "Export" button to download the file.
Using the Content Copier tool to Import
You'll need to first open the Content Copier and then switch to the "Import to Table Export" tab. From there, you should click the "Choose File" button and then choose a file to upload into the system:
You can forgo this step if you'd like, but you can click the "Analyse" button for a summary of the data included in the chosen file:
Otherwise, you can click the "Import" button to run the import and bring the data into the system. You should be shown details regarding the import, including the import status, and be given the option to "Finish" the import once it is done running.
